When B&B Music burned down in Sept. 2006 the owner was ready to build it all again the next day.

About a week later, the store moved three doors down on George Street from its original location and was once again open for business in what was considered a temporary location.

After jumping through all the hoops that comes with undertaking such a big project, Jay Scholton is now ready to open the doors to the new building at 1085 Third Avenue at the corner of Third and George, across from the Courthouse.

Un Petit Cafe is already open and in the same building as B&B Music studios where hundreds of students take music lessons.

Downtown business has seen its share of problems, but being a destination location, Scholton said he's not had a problem with being downtown. The area is well lit and a safe place be, he added.

"I see some positive changes in the downtown and I have always done very well here," Scholton said. "All the merchants support the changes needed to downtown."

Despite the downturn in the economy, Scholton said music lovers still patronized the store and sales were never noticeably down.

"People are always into music," he said.
