Museum still searching for renter

With the departure of the Central Interior Logging Association and its partner agencies to a bigger office space, their previous location is vacant.

With the departure of the Central Interior Logging Association and its partner agencies to a bigger office space, their previous location is vacant.

The Railway and Forestry Museum was their former home and have not yet acquired new partners for the office space now available. The loss of the rental income is hurting the not-for-profit organization's bottom line, but the museum's executive director Ranjit Gill is focused on getting a well-fitting tenant into the complex.

"We have a lot of space, we have a lot of flexibility as well because of the different rooms available, and the prices I think are very reasonable. We want the right tenants here," she said. "I think this is an opportunity someone is going to grab."

The museum is on a huge space on the doorstep of Cottonwood Island Park. It is one of the most popular picturesque locations in the city's Bowl area, alongside the Nechako River and alongside features like the picnic meadow, the replica Cameron Street Bridge, and the head of the popular river trail system used year round by joggers, dog walkers, couples on romantic walks and lunch hour strollers.

Gill said any prospective new tenants could benefit from the free parking, boardroom and kitchen onsite as well as the great scenery that comes along with working next to the park.

There are seven offices available, plus the communal kitchen and the boardroom - all of it upstairs in the main museum building with an independent entrance.

"The smallest office is going for $235 a month, and the biggest ones are $425 each," said Gill. "We would also be agreeable to negotiating a package deal for multiple offices, and use of the boardroom and kitchen. We want to have good neighbours and we want to be good neighbours."

Anyone interested in these spaces can contact Gill at 250-563-7351.
