The 2011 Muscle Run, a fundraiser for muscular dystrophy, will be held this weekend traveling from Williams Lake, through Prince George and on to Smithers.
Susan Andrist, former president of the Prince George Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada, got together with the Harley Owners Group years ago to create the unique plan of riding long distance for a good cause.
Since Andrist's muscular dystrophy has caused some recent health issues, she is unable to organize the event any longer and has left it in the capable hands of Colin Andrews of the Harley Owners Group and a team of volunteers.
Each year there are at least 50 motorcyclists that participate in the event and this year is no different, with more than $60,000 raised over the years.
Local residents can show their support by coming to Friday's meet and greet and barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. at Harley Davidson of Prince George, 2626 Vance Road, to show their support for a good cause. Let's help make muscles move, Andrews said, which is the catch phrase for Muscular Dystrophy.
"I am confident the sun is going to shine for this ride and for those who have Muscular Dystrophy," said Andrews. "Please come to the barbecue and show your support for this worthy cause."
