Mr. PG hosts gratitude garden for transplant heroes week

A token of thanks for healthcare professionals who provide transplant care

Mr. PG is helping the community celebrate Transplant Heroes Week, which thanks all of the province's healthcare professionals that provide care to transplant recipients all year long.

This year, BC Transplant is celebrating Transplant Heroes Week with gratitude gardens created and placed around the province by volunteers – who are transplant recipients, living donors and donor family members.

Normally, during this week teams of transplant recipients, living donors and donor families usually deliver treats in-person to transplant clinic staff, but because of COVID-19 and respecting public health guidelines for physical distancing, the teams have created gratitude gardens.

Gratitude Gardens have been placed in community neighborhoods across the province.

Messages of thanks, hope and inspiration have been painted on personalized rocks, showing appreciation for local healthcare heroes.

"It is a small token of thanks for their hard work," reads a BC Transplant release.

The Prince George gratitude garden has been placed at the feet of Mr. PG and the community is invited to visit the garden until Friday (June 5) before the rocks are removed.

Mr. PG will also be lit up in green this week in support of organ donation.
