MP looking to drum up youth interest

A Member of Parliament is visiting Prince George to engage youth in the political process. John McCallum, MP for Markham-Unionville, will be at UNBC today.

McCallum is the former senior vice president of the Royal Bank of Canada, and its chief economist. He entered politics in 2000, serving in the cabinet of prime ministers Jean Chretien and Paul Martin. He held the posts of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance then Minister of National Defence, Minister of Veterans' Affairs, Minister of Natural Resources and Minister of National Revenue.

A town hall meeting for local Liberal Party of Canada members will also be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church (511 South Tabor Blvd.).
