Prince George-Peace River MP Bob Zimmer has been appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to sit on the agriculture and agri-food standing committee.
"I am honoured to have been chosen by the Prime Minister and our Conservative government to be a part of this important committee," said Zimmer in a press release. "I look forward to continuing to consult with our local farmers and to be able to provide a voice for northeastern B.C.'s agricultural community here in Ottawa."
The committee examines issues related to Canada's agriculture and agri-food industry and provides a public forum for addressing events and initiatives that affect the sector.
Zimmer will also sit on the joint standing committee on the library of parliament, which assists the speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons in reviewing the library's management and operation.
