A Great North Christmas, a movie produced and filmed in Prince George by Barker Street Cinema, will be airing on Apple TV on Nov. 29.

The romantic comedy stars Laura Mitchell and Jay Hindle in the lead roles while Prince George residents will recognize plenty of local talent in the film as well including William Kuklis and Melissa Bain.

The story goes like this:

Caroline North is one of LA's entertainment power-attorneys. While she’s a beautiful, smart and strong woman, she’s also a lonely workaholic whose best friends send her on a surprise Christmas vacation to Prince George.

Caroline discovers a town full of winter attractions that include cross-country skiing, driving a snowmobile, riding dog sleds and ultimately finding that special someone along the way.

The star of the movie Laura Mitchell was so inspired by her experience here in Prince George she brought her own movie production to Prince George last winter where she wrote and directed Meeting Mr. Christmas starring Madison Smith, who grew up in Prince George and came back home to star in the show opposite Greta Carew-Johns. That movie has a screening at the Prestige Treasure Cove Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Cost is $30 per person, children under 12 are $15.
