PRINCE GEORGE -- The Prince George Fire Centre is currently responding to a fire 56 kilometres west of Chetwynd.

The Mt. McAllister Fire has reached 10,000 hectares and is still growing.

A Type 1 Incident Management Team will be in Hudson's Hope today to develop a fire management strategy.

The fire is extremely active and is not being actively suppressed by crews.

A helicopter flight of the fire was undertaken Tuesday to assess the possibility of conducting planned 'burnoff' fires ahead of the fire front, to remove fuel from the fire's path.

The first priority in responding to the incident is always to protect life and property so the Peace River Regional District has issued an Evacuation Order for an area directly south and west of Hudson's Hope as a result of this fire.

Hudson's Hope itself is not on Evacuation Order, or Evacuation Alert.

Smoke and ash from this wildfire will be present in many surrounding communities.
