Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a man who fled the scene after going off the road while riding a motorcycle early Friday morning.
A woman believed to have been a passenger on the bike was found conscious at the scene taken to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Highway 97 and 22nd Avenue. RCMP were called to the scene at 5 a.m.
Police said the bike was being ridden south on Highway 97 at a high rate of speed and went off the road and over an emnbankment between the highway and Westwood Drive.
The man fled on foot and left the woman behind. Police suspect she laid there for some time.
"The incident is believed to have happened up to a few hours before she was found and police were called," Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "As of yet, we don't know when that was."
The motorcycle, a green Kawasaki Ninja, was not registered or insured and alcohol may have have been a factor. A description of the man has not yet been obtained.
Police were on the scene for much of Friday collecting evidence. Traffic was back to normal by 3 p.m.
