Motorcycle, Corvette thief busted

Police don't often see motorcycles on the roads, this time of year, but an RCMP officer patrolling on Milburn Avenue spotted one on Nov. 11.

"The officer found this to be unusual," said Prince George police spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "In addition, the officer was aware that a motorcycle was stolen in Prince George the previous week," in the same general neighbourhood.

A roadside check discovered it was the same black Suzuki stolen from the 1300 block of Diefenbaker Drive sometime between the evening of Oct. 31 and the morning of Nov. 1st.

"The rider provided a false name to the officer before providing his real name," said Douglass, but the member soon learned that the suspect was Brent Jameson Morgan, 20, for whom a warrant was outstanding. He was also suspected of the October attempted theft of a Corvette on Francois Crescent.

Charges were laid and he was convicted on five charges related to both the motorcycle, Corvette and false name issues. Morgan was sentenced to one day in jail and 18 months probation.
