More than a walk in the park

A suspect was caught masturbating in a city park this past weekend.

At about 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Prince George RCMP received a complaint of the indecent act happening at Cottonwood Island Park near the boat launch on River Road.

"The male was observed carrying out the act with one hand and holding a cigarette in the other. It seemed so nonchalant," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "When confronted by a male witness, the man acknowledged the act, turned and walked away. The man disappeared into the park."

Officers checked the park and parking lots, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 45 to 55 years old, five-feet-11, 250 pounds, with grey hair and receding hairline, a full goatee and glasses. At the time of the incident he was wearing blue jeans, a dark jacket and running shoes.

The description of the man has some similarity to the suspect in a public masturbation case at College of New Caledonia on Nov. 21. That day, two women in different parts of the campus were surprised by that man, as he masturbated inside a washroom but allowed the door to remain open for viewing.

Although no one was injured in any of these incidents, police are concerned about the potential risks associated with people who engage in such activities in view of the public. Investigators are requesting the public's help in locating this suspect.
