More budget talks set

Prince George city council will be talking budget twice next year.

Prince George city council will be talking budget twice next year.

During Monday night's meeting, council approved the 2013 schedule for council and committee of the whole and budget meetings, which feature budget deliberations for the 2014 fiscal year beginning Nov. 27

"Our hope would be that, all going well, we'll actually have our budget discussions at the end of the year and have the budget in place before the year ends," said acting city manager Kathleen Soltis.

Coun. Cameron Stolz commended the staff for the change, saying it would be a benefit to everyone.

"Being able to have that [budget meetings] earlier in the year I think is better for all of us as opposed to pushing hard up against the deadline in March and finding challenges if there's any new direction from council to take in," he said.
