Making Ourselves Matter Services Society is offering an opportunity to young women who are motivated to take life-changing steps to become competent, productive and contributing members of the community.

With a house donated by an anonymous donor, steps toward making the house a home are being taken with a fundraising effort. A playhouse is up for grabs and can be seen at the Pine Centre Mall until 9 p.m. tonight then it moves to Walmart for a couple of weeks and then on to Rona. The playhouse, which can also be a garden shed, was built by Rick Loreth, and the materials were donated by Rona.

MOMSS house is not an institution but a home that falls under the assisted living umbrella. The program could take up to two years and will see six women learn life skills while living in the home that is located in the outlying area of Prince George.

"People are just so good," said co-founder of MOMSS, Linda Liss. "When everyone works together and does what they can, the possibilities are endless."

MOMSS is not a treatment or recovery centre, nor will it include detoxing clients.

MOMSS has just been granted their charitable status and all donations are welcome.

"If we all do what we can, it is amazing what we can do," said Liss. "We can all be a part of making a difference."

MOMSS will be opening their doors as soon as the house is furnished, renovations are complete, and the service funding is acquired.
