A Fort St. James man who was thought missing has been found. He contacted The Citizen to apologize to those who searched for him and worried over his disappearance.

"I am sorry, Search And Rescue, RCMP and all the people out there, all my family and friends that looked for me. I am going through a bit of a breakdown right now," said Martin Lee Murdock.

The 34-year-old was last seen near the Stuart River on Oct. 23, and a dedicated search of the area was undertaken.

"A search of the area using RCMP aircraft as well as local Search And Rescue was completed and unsuccessful," said Fort St. James RCMP spokesman Cpl. Greg Redl.

Murdock's safe return was verified on Oct. 26 by police, but Mounties told The Citizen that the matter was still under investigation. This runs contrary to most missing person files when the subject is located, thus concluding the matter. There are still outstanding questions police are seeking answers to in this matter.

"We are unable to discuss this investigation at this time," said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dan Moskuluk.

Murdock himself issued only the one statement to The Citizen.
