Missing man found dead at Red Rock

When Prince George RCMP activated a Search and Rescue team Nov. 15, along Highway 97 South near Red Rock, searchers located the body of 22-year-old Trevor Cooper of Williams Lake.

Cooper had been missing since early this month and was last seen in Prince George.

Police began the search, based on a public tip received Nov. 15 when a witness advised RCMP that he had given a male matching Cooper's description a ride on Nov. 7.

The witness had dropped the male off at the Red Rock fire hall on Highway 97 and added he had attempted to provide further assistance, but the young man refused any further help and carried on, walking away from the fire hall.

Searchers found Cooper deceased in a ditch near the newly constructed Red Rock weigh scales on Highway 97. There are no indications of foul play related to his death at this time, said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

"It is a very unfortunate ending to this incident. The Williams Lake RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are continuing their investigation and we are continuing to assist the Cooper family with this tragic loss," said Moskaluk.
