Another theft of metal has occurred in Prince George. This time, a business on Queensway was targeted and unlike past similar cases the material was not copper.
"It wasn't copper specifically, although there might have been some copper involved," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "It is a mechanical business that was stolen from. It was a generic collection of scrap metal owned by the business that was targeted."
The quantity was not disclosed.
The theft happened sometime after the close of business on Saturday and the opening of business after the weekend. Employees of the business noticed the loss and called police at about 8 a.m. Monday.
This is the latest in a rash of metal thefts that have hit Prince George and across the province since the market price of metals rose to an attractive level for thieves.
