But few realize the effort that goes into making 90 gallons of the soup to meet the demand.

Carolyn Missiuna, the "maker of the soup" needs at least six assistants who begin preparation early on Friday morning to be ready for Saturday's big sale that can attract up to 10,000 people.

The no-admission sale on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. uses most of the space at the Civic Centre including the foyer.

Ten Thousand Villages wares from Third World countries will offer unique items like pottery from Thailand.

There will be 1,600 pounds of farmer's sausage from Winkler, Man and two freezers of Helmi's perogies from Victoria as well as fresh produce such as apples from the Okanagan, and much more. Read it in The Citizen.
