Prince George journalist, writer and radio host Ben Meisner was among three people appointed to the B.C. Law Society board of governors on Tuesday.
So-called "benchers" are appointed by the provincial government to represent the public in the regulation of lawyers.
Meisner, as well as Satwinder Bains, director of Indo Canadian studies at the University of the Fraser Valley and foremr Kamloops MLA Claude Richmond, will join three other appointed benchers, for a total of six non-lawyers, and 25 elected-lawyer benchers from around B.C.
"Appointed benchers play a vital role in the work of the Law Society," said Law Society president, Glen Ridgway in a press release. "They not only provide public input on policy, they bring a wide range of perspectives and experience to the work of committees, task forces, and discipline panels."
