A new saga begins for the Prince George Public Library (PGPL), turning the page to introduce a new character to its management cast.
After Janet Marren retired from her Chief Librarian position in July, Paul Burry took over the role on an interim basis.
Well, as of 12 p.m. today (Nov. 13), Burry has earned the full promotion and a new title as the PGPL’s Library Director.
“Paul's experiences in various libraries, his skill set, and his interview with the hiring committee left us with no doubt that he is the best choice to take over leadership of Prince George Public Library,” said Board Chair Mike Gagel in a statement, who added it was a unanimous decision based on Burry’s resume.
Burry joined the PGPL in 2011 as the Manager of Support and Circulation Services after completing his Masters of Library and Information Science at the University of Washington the same year.
Burry moved to Prince George in 2003 with his wife and three daughters.
From there, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at UNBC while also working as an assistant in the post-secondary school’s Geoffrey R. Weller Library.
