Finning Canada says B.C. Labour Relations Board mediation talks have been scheduled with striking workers for next week Tuesday and Thursday.

Finning workers in British Columbia, including about 100 in Prince George, went on strike last week.

"We're hoping we'll get a resolution and get back to serving our customers in the forest and mining industry as soon as we can," said Finning spokesman Jeff Howard.

Finning says it has a contingency plan in place to help support its customers.

Equipment and parts sales remain open at its 20 locations in British Columbia, including in Prince George. Technical advise from management, who have experience working on equipment, is also available. However, Finning will not be doing work on equipment in B.C.

At issue are wages, benefits, shifts and sub-contracting, says the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents the 700 Finning workers in B.C.
