Upgrades to the mechanical systems at Carney Hill elementary and Mackenzie secondary schools are in store for this year under a five-year capital plan approved by school board trustees on Tuesday.
The Carney Hill project will cost $1.7 million and the work at Mackenzie will cost $1.6 million. Both were previously slated for completion in the plan's third year but were moved up to the plan's first year.
A $2.5-million mechanical upgrade to Lakewood junior secondary, meanwhile, was moved up to the second year from the third.
A $4.9-million project to build a multipurpose room and classroom at DP Todd secondary and increase its capacity by 25 students to 650 remains on the books for the third year, as does a new $3.6-million Giscome elementary school.
