Victor and Beverly Chingee from McLeod Lake are $500,000 richer after winning the Extra on their Lotto 6/49 and BC/49 ticket on the Sept. 16 draw.
The couple was at the mall when Beverly decided to check a ticket at the lottery retail kiosk.
After the machine froze, the retailer confirmed a big win.
Shocked, Beverly called to her husband to have a look.
“Without my glasses, it was hard to see what was going on,” Victor said.
“But I trust Beverly completely because she’s usually right. This is exciting for us.”
The Chingees are already planning to renovate their home, purchase a new car and save some of their winnings in the bank.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mackenzie Mall Lottery Ticket Centre in Mackenzie.
