On Monday, Mayor Simon Yu proclaimed July 17-18 as Vancouver Canucks Days in Prince George.
The proclamation, which can be found online, calls the team the province’s “preeminent sports franchise” and says that many Prince George residents are “the biggest Canucks fans on the planet.”
“Visiting Canucks alumni Richard Brodeur, Eddie Hatoum, Gary Monahan, and Dennis Kearns stopped by City Hall to raise a Vancouver Canucks flag to mark the occasion,” the City of Prince George posted on social media on Monday afternoon. “The Canucks alumni are in Prince George along with retired NHLer and former PG Cougar Ron Petrovicky to take part in the Commonwealth Cup Golf Tournament.”
The 14th annual Commonwealth Cup takes place at Aberdeen Glen Golf Course and will raise funds for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society. More information about the tournament, which takes place on Tuesday, can be found on the tournament website.
