There's a free lecture at the Prince George Library's Bob Harkins branch on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman will tackle the importance of community leadership and the power of having a vision to build and sustain thriving communities.
Ackerman, who developed a Downtown Action Plan to revitalize Fort St. John's downtown, will explain how to engage residents, business owners, local government employees and elected officials for a common goal.
During the lecture, organized by the Community Development Institute, Ackerman will talk about how to focus on the strengths of a community and maintain interest and engagement for the long haul.
