A large sinkhole that has closed the northbound lanes of Massey Drive since Tuesday afternoon was expected to be repaired last night.
The sinkhole, located at the intersection of Massey Drive and Carney Street, was caused by a crack in a storm drain line. Water leaking from the drain eroded the ground beneath the asphalt until it collapsed, according to information released by the city.
The storm drain was patched and city crews began filling the hole on Thursday afternoon.
"We are happy to report that this issue has been safely addressed, and that motorists will be able to access the northbound lanes later tonight (Thursday)," Gina Layte Liston, city associate director of public works, said. "We would like to thank the public for their patience."
