Fawn Lake is known for its great spring and fall fishery. The lake can be shallow in spots, and is best fished in cooler temperatures.
Early in the season, chironomids are the preferred fly pattern. Try an ice cream cone pattern with an olive body. Tackle fishers could try a gold Hildebrandt spoon. Flatfish seem to work well in Fawn Lake as well. The trout key in on blue and orange colours. It's well worth stocking some other standard lures, spoons and spinners, again in gold or blue variations.
Fawn Lake is very productive, and shrimp are a big source of food for the trout in the lake. Along with its healthy insect populations, Fawn Lake trout can reach large sizes in a short amount of time.
While it is best in spring and all, Fawn Lake fishes adequately in the summer months, depending on the season. Cooler average temperatures will improve the bite, though even in warmer years the lake has been known to produce well at times.
