A 29 year old man is in custody following a standoff in McLeod Lake yesterday.
The man, originally from Prince George, surrendered to police shortly after 1 p.m., roughly eight hours after a group of people from McLeod Lake showed up at the Mackenzie RCMP detachment to allege that they were threatened to the point where they became concerned about their safety.
They were forced to drive to the detachment because there is no cell coverage in McLeod Lake, about 125 kilometres north of Prince George, police said.
At least three others, including two children, remained in the home and Highway 97 south of McLeod Lake was closed for about a half hour while an emergency response team attended the scene.
A firearm was recovered on the site and the man facing charges of uttering threats and violating his parole conditions.
