A man was injured in a drive-by shooting in a Prince George neighbourhood Wednesday evening and police are asking the public for help to solve the crime.

The victim told Prince George RCMP he was walking in the area of 20th Avenue and Queensway when he was approached by a brown Dodge 1500 pickup truck with an Alberta licence plate and was allegedly shot by the driver, who the man did not recognize.

The driver then left the scene in his truck. The victim was transported to hospital and received treatment for his injuries.

“Police received a report of a loud bang in that area, with a sighting of a male running away from the nearby gas bar, at about 6:45 p.m.,” said Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cpr. Jennifer Cooper.

“Investigators believe these two events are related and are asking to speak with any witnesses to either event. We would also like to speak to anyone with a dash camera that may have caught an image of the suspect truck, which has tinted windows and is missing the passenger side running board.”
