A seizure of guns and drugs from a Northwood Pulpmill Road home last year has led to 404 days in jail for a local man.
Damian Frank Dwyer, 35, was handed the sentence in B.C. Supreme Court last week for one count of possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm. He was also issued a 10-year firearms prohibition on the count.
Dwyer was arrested May 7, 2015 after RCMP executed a search warrant on the home. A 40-calibre handgun, three shotguns were seized from that location and further investigation led to a seizure of 13 more firearms, according to police.
A significant amount of heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine was also located, RCMP also said at the time.
Dwyer was also sentenced to jail time served and assessed $600 in victim surcharges for knowingly possessing a weapon without a licence, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and possession of a controlled substance.
Dwyer, who has an extensive criminal record, was in custody for 423 days prior to sentencing.
