A Prince George man has been sentenced to 378 days in jail and prohibited from driving for five years for ramming police vehicles while trying to evade RCMP south of the city earlier this year.
Donovan Arthur Carter-Laliberte, 21, was arrested May 6 after Prince George RCMP received a report of a stolen pickup truck with a broken window being driven aggressively through the city.
About a half hour later, a member of the public who had seen a photo of the truck on social media called police to report it was on 15 Mile Road between Buckhorn and Red Rock, RCMP said at the time.
RCMP, including two police service dog units, found the truck on 15 Mile Road, only to have the driver accelerate toward the police vehicles, causing a head-on collision. He was arrested at the scene.
Carter-Laliberte, who was sentenced Friday in Prince George provincial court and had remained in custody since his arrest, was also given concurrent terms of one year for two counts of causing bodily harm and 180 days for possession of stolen property.
He was also sentenced to concurrent terms of 90 days in jail for possession of stolen property over $5,000 and 30 days for carrying a concealed weapon, breach of probation and breach of an undertaking or recognizance.
And he was assessed $1,300 in victim surcharges.
