A Calgary man arrested on the same day that about 20 firearms were stolen from a local hunting and fishing store has been sentenced to 90 days time served.

Kurtis Fendrick, 23, was issued the term Friday in Prince George provincial court.

At about 5 a.m. on May 5, Nechako Outdoors on Vance Road was the target of a break and enter. And at about 3:30 p.m., Fendrick, who was driving a black Dodge Charger, was pulled over in the 1900 block of Strathcona Avenue and police found two of the stolen guns in the vehicle.

It was the third time in five weeks that thieves had targeted the store.

Early on April 1, suspects entered the business and stole three firearms and some knives. On April 12, multiple people broke in and stole 12 firearms, mostly shotguns. Police have not been able to identify suspects in either incident.

The pickup reported stolen from a Van Bien home is also suspected of being used in the May 5 incident. It's described as a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a two-door extended cab and rear suicide doors and a "4x4" sticker on the side. It was bearing B.C. licence plate CJ 9691.

Fendrick was sentenced on convictions for possessing a weapon obtained through offence and knowingly possessing a firearm without a licence. He was also ordered to pay $200 in victim surcharges and issued a lifetime firearms prohibition.
