A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to three years probation for arson causing damage to property in relation to two fires set in Mackenzie last year.
Dyllon Gervais was also issued a 10-year firearms prohibition and assessed a $100 victim surcharge for the Aug. 19, 2015 incidents. The term was issued Friday in Mackenzie provincial court.
The fires were lit along the John Dahl Trail near the Mackenzie Recreation Centre. Volunteer fire fighters in the community of 3,500 people 186 kilometres north of Prince George extinguished the blazes but not before one had grown to more than 10 metres.
Gervais was in custody for 11 days following his arrest.
