A man has been sentenced to two years probation for a 2014 robbery of a local credit union.

Denny Stanley Hoggan had been in custody since his arrest more than 3 1/2 years ago.

He was apprehended on the afternoon of May 8, 2014 after police were called to a holdup of the Integris Credit Union's Riverpoint branch. He was arrested a short time later at Pine Centre Mall.

That same month, he pleaded guilty to robbery and sentencing was put over to prepare a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric risk assessment and the case ran into various procedural snags.

Hoggan has an extensive criminal record that includes sentences for assault and other crimes in Prince George, committed during a spree in November 2001. His record also includes offences committed on Vancouver Island.

The term was issued Thursday in Prince George provincial court.
