The second of two men RCMP allegedly found inside an empty warehouse where police were to hold a training exercise has been sentenced to a year probation.
Marc Philip Joseph Bock, 41, was issued the term Wednesday in Prince George provincial court. He was also sentenced to one day in jail and assessed a $100 victim surcharge.
Bock and Christopher Kenneth Oates, 39, was arrested Jan. 16 after North District RCMP's emergency response team and Prince RCMP's dog service team showed up at a building they use to hone their skills to discover it had been broken into and the culprits were likely still inside.
The teams surrounded the building, an old BC Hydro warehouse on Pickering Road off Highway 16, just east of the Yellowhead Bridge, and despite being told to stop by police, the two men ran deeper into the building, police said at the time.
A police service dog was deployed and soon found them hiding in a room. When the suspects still refused to comply, the dog was released and soon located one of the two, while the second suspect began to comply with police commands.
On Sept. 30, Oates was sentenced to 52 days in jail as well as one year probation and was assessed a $100 victim surcharge.
Oates failed to show up in court for a first appearance on the matter in early April. He was subsequently apprehended in late August and spent 40 days in custody prior to sentencing.
