A Prince George man has been sentenced to 184 days in jail for two counts of robbery earlier this year.
Alexander John Schmidt, 23, must also serve 18 months probation once he's completed his term under a sentence issued Tuesday in Prince George Provincial Court.
Schmidt has remained in custody since Feb. 9 when he and another man, Calvin Douglas John Hiemstra, 26, were arrested in connection with two robberies and one attempted robbery.
At the time of their arrests, RCMP said officers were first called to the 2300 block of Ferry Avenue on Feb. 8 at about
9:30 p.m. where a 23-year-old man told officers he turned over his backpack and wallet to a man wearing a bandana over his face who had threatened him.
The suspect then got back into a blue Dodge Durango SUV being driven by someone else, leaving the victim unharmed, police were told. A few minutes later, RCMP received another report of a robbery, this time in the 1200 block of Douglas Street where a 20-year-old man said he was approached by what police believe to be the same suspect from the same SUV.
Again, the victim complied and was unharmed.
Police also believe Hiemstra and Schmidt were behind an attempted robbery of two males near the corner of Fifth Avenue and Alward Street around the same time.
Hiemstra's matter remains before the court.
