A man was sentenced to 22 days in jail and one year probation for assaulting a staff member at University Hospital of Northern British Columbia.
Lance Robert Ernest Park, 49, was issued the term Tuesday in Prince George provincial court for the April 28 incident in which he allegedly punched a technician who was trying to take an x-ray of him.
Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said incidents where police are called in to deal with a patient attacking hospital staff are rare.
Alcohol was a factor in the incident for which Park was also issued a five-year firearms prohibition and ordered to pay $100 victim fine surcharges for each of the two charges for which he was convicted - assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
On July 24, Park was sentenced to 14 days in jail for breach of an undertaking and to 12 days for assaulting a peace officer and to one year probation on both charges for a July 12 incident in which he was found near Four Seasons Pool with open liquor.
