A former Alberta man will spend up to a year in a drug and alcohol treatment program after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to four counts related to the discovery of drugs and weapons in a South Fort George home in June.

Jason Paul Mathany, 31, could get a break on sentencing depending on how he fairs in the program. He was issued bail with conditions to attend the program during a hearing in Prince George provincial court.

He was one of three people, all from Calgary, who were arrested June 6 after RCMP were called to a report of an assault at a Royal Crescent home.

RCMP found marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine and assortment of firearms and other weapons and items believed to be used to make fraudulent identification. A stolen vehicle from Alberta was located in the driveway.

Mathany, who had been in custody for 84 days, pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a firearm without a licence or registration, unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon and careless storage of a firearm.

Last month, co-accused Charles Dalton Darling, 48, was assessed a $200 victim surcharge for possession of stolen property under $5,000. He had spent 38 days in custody by that time.

Dana Louise Funk, 24, remains in custody on several charges related to the matter.
