Man faces immigration fraud charges in Richmond court

A man was accused of helping individuals misrepresent their purposes of entering Canada.

A man facing 10 charges related to immigration fraud will be on trial in Richmond Provincial Court later this fall.

Bishwombhar Lamsal, 38, is accused of counselling, inducing, aiding or abetting four individuals in Nepal, China, Japan or the City of Richmond to misrepresent or withhold facts as to their purposes for entering Canada.

He also faces six counts related to representing or advising three individuals in Nepal for their temporary resident visa applications between June and September 2023 and charging for his services.

All alleged offences fall under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Lamsal was first charged with the offences on Oct. 25, 2023 and is currently in custody.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges on Feb. 13 and he is scheduled to have a 10-day trial in Richmond Provincial Court starting Oct. 21.

Lamsal is set to return to Richmond Provincial Court on April 26 for an application and his next bail hearing is scheduled for May 1.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
