One man has been arrested and faces charges of sexual assault and sexual interference following a March 4 incident involving two teenaged girls shopping at Pine Centre Mall.

Following a brief manhunt for the suspects, charges have been approved for 24-year-old Harold Joseph Fletcher of Prince George.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on March 4, Prince George RCMP were called to the Pine Centre Mall where security officers advised that two young females, aged 13 and 14, had been sexually assaulted by three adult males in their 20s.

Security was able to maintain surveillance on the three suspects until they left the mall in a vehicle driven by one of the males.

A description of the vehicle and the licence plate number was passed on to police.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and subsequently located the vehicle abandoned in a snowbank, close to Carney Street.

Police soon spotted the three suspects running across 15th Avenue. All three were arrested without incident on Douglas Street at approximately 3:02 p.m.

Investigators now believe that only one of the suspects, Fletcher, committed the alleged offences.

Police would like to commend the Pine Centre Security in their professional handling of this incident.
