The same day a 36-year-old man broke into a commercial property on First Avenue, he was sentenced to 28 days in jail.
Daniel David Rehn Morton appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to break and enter after being found inside a locked compound in the 200 block of First Avenue just before 3 a.m.
Prince George RMCP said in a release the local man has an extensive criminal record and was breaching his probation at the time. He was sentenced to a further year of probation and ordered to pay $100 in victim surcharges.
Local RCMP have responded to a high number of property crime reports in the Prince George area, including break and enters, theft from vehicles and theft of vehicles.
Police encourage residents to lock their doors and windows when leaving home, lock vehicle doors, don't leave things of value inside parked cars, and install vehicle immobilizers and anti-theft devices.
Older pick up trucks are high on the hit list.
