A domestic incident last week put a Williams Lake woman in grave danger and her ex-boyfriend behind bars.
On Wednesday, RCMP were called after a 28-year-old male made remarks about looking for his former partner, with intentions to harm her.
"[The suspect] then located the 20-year-old victim at a residence and reportedly forced her into his vehicle at knife point," said North District RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith. "The male then left the area with the victim in his vehicle and a description of his vehicle was dispatched to police."
Williams Lake RCMP patrolled the rural area surrounding the community and were able to locate the victim and apprehended the male without incident.
"The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Williams Lake Hospital for medical treatment," Smith said.
"This outcome could have been tragic had the members of Williams Lake RCMP not located the suspect when they did," said the Williams Lake detachment commander, Insp. Warren Brown.
The male, who is well known to the police, remains in police custody and will be facing a number of charges, including kidnapping, forceable confinement, assault, sexual assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
