A man has been arrested and charged in connection with Friday evening's gun fight inside a Prince George drug house.
Darius Trey Veld, 25, faces one count each of unlawful discharge of a firearm, careless use of a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking, according to court records.
Veld, who has no criminal record but is known to police, was one of the people living in the 700-block Freeman Street home where the incident allegedly occurred, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said Monday.
Douglass said police believe "multiple people" armed with guns showed up at the home in a vehicle and forced their way in.
Police also believe the shots were fired inside the home. RCMP, who were called to the scene at 5:40 p.m.
They detained three people and remain on the lookout for more suspects, although Douglass declined to say how many.
In a press release, RCMP did say a "conflict within the drug trade" was the motivation, adding that the act was "violent and dangerous."
No one was injured but a stray bullet did go through a neighbour's window, RCMP said, narrowly missing two children and their parents.
"This is a clear example that those involved in the drug trade have not regard for others," RCMP said. "Police are requesting anyone with information about this conflict or any other drug-related conflict, to contact the police or Crime Stoppers before people get hurt."
Located in Central Fort George, the 700 block of Freeman Street is not known as a high crime area. Douglass said drug trade trouble is often related to rental properties although he could not confirm whether the home in question was a rental.
