Despite assistance with the Jaws of Life, a male passenger died early Wednesday as a result of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 just south of the Macalister Overpass..
Police say a northbound tractor trailer crossed over the centre line into the southbound lane resulting in a head on collision with a Dodge pickup.
The passenger who was trapped in the pickup was removed with the Jaws of Life, but was in critical condition at the scene before being taken to the Williams Lake Hospital where he died. His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin. Neither alcohol or speed are believed to be factors in the accident, and roads were wet, but in good driving condition. An investigation is being conducted.
