Prince George development agencies are working to attract workers from other countries to positions for which no Canadian is willing or qualified to take.
The focus of organizations like Initiatives Prince George, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society is to attract newcomers who are interested in staying long-term and become part of the community.
An event today invites the public "to learn about efforts being made across the community to attract new Canadians to Prince George" according to a joint statement from the cooperative groups involved in recruitment and retention of foreign workers.
The luncheon is scheduled for today at the Hart Crown Banquet Hall (3955 Hart Highway) from noon until 1:30 p.m. Cost is $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members.
