Ever wonder if you’ve got money floating around in the ether just waiting for you to claim it?
There’s a way to find out if there’s some cash stashed that’s yours for the taking.
The Bank of Canada has an unclaimed bank balances portal where you can search for your lost treasure.
The Citizen used the portal and put Prince George in the search – there are some pretty big numbers on those unclaimed amounts from as far back as 1989 for some Prince George businesses and non-profits. Both the City of Prince George and the Prince George Public Library on the list.
The Prince George Hospice Society seems to have forgotten about more than $2,000 it set aside in 2011 while Conservative MP Bob Zimmer's riding association appears to have more than $1,700 in an account abandoned since 2002.
The Prince George Rowing Club has money it hasn't touched since 1999, the Prince George Computer Club has neglected its account since 2000 and it was 2006 when the Prince George Block Parent Program last accessed its bank account.
Visit the Bank of Canada unclaimed bank balances portal and happy hunting!
And please let us know if you discover some ‘found money’ that’s been waiting for you. We’d love to share your story.
