A former Prince George lawyer who became Canada's longest serving federally-appointed judge has died.
Richard (Dick) Thomas Albert Low died Friday following a stroke. He was 74 years old.
Low, who was born in Rock Bay, B.C., was called to the bar in 1965 after earning a law degree at the University of British Columbia and articling at Crease and Company in Victoria. He then moved to Prince George, where he practiced at Cashman, Hope, Heinrich and Company and then at Wilson, King and Company.
He was appointed to the County Court of Prince Rupert in 1977, to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1990, and finally to the Court of Appeal in 2000 and was the longest-serving federally-appointed judge sitting in Canada at the time of his death.
A service and reception will be held Wednesday at West Vancouver United Church.
