Police are on the lookout for the driver of an unloaded logging truck that may have inadvertently struck a young man as he was walking across Highway 97 early Wednesday morning.
The 19-year-old Prince George resident was taken to hospital with serious injuries after police were called to the scene near Nechako Road at about 3:50 a.m.
An initial investigation is showing the pedestrian was crossing the highway from east to west against a red light and walked into the back of the truck.
"The driver of the truck did not stop, as it is possible that the he or she did not notice the impact," Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.
It's believed the truck had turned onto the highway from Nechako Road just prior to the incident.
Police want to get in contact with the driver, Douglass said, and anyone who may have information on the incident or how the driver can be contacted is asked to call the detachment at 250-561-3300.
