Looking at the cover of this month's special edition of Maclean's magazine called Canada's Stories, many Prince George residents will recognize a familiar face.
Baljit Sethi, executive director of the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society of Prince George, was asked to talk about her role in welcoming immigrants to Canada and her own experiences as a new resident of the country.
Maclean's put a call out for nominations for "Canadians who have made history, brushed up against it and helped build the nation."
"When they called me I asked them who nominated me and they said is was a secret," Sethi laughed. "Ok, keep the secret."
The reporter sent from Vancouver wanted to know about what it was like for Sethi when she came to Canada and about what it's like now welcoming immigrants to Prince George, she said.
"I have been in Canada for over 40 years and I don't think of any other country as my home,' said Sethi, who originally came from Pakistan and moved to India before she found her way to Prince George. "All the friendliness, affection and love from people here in Prince George made me think this is the best country."
