A Prince George man spent a long night in his pickup truck after it became stuck when he went out Wednesday evening to set up a trail camera in the Blackwater Road area southwest of Prince George.

When he did not return by late that night, RCMP were alerted and patrolled the area but were unable to find him.

There is a major forest service road that runs hundreds of kilometres and connects to many other forest service roads, RCMP noted.

At about 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, police received a call from a family member to say the man had made contact and a general location was obtained. By shortly after noon, he was found walking out along a forest service road off Blackwater Road.

Police would like to remind those persons that enjoy the outdoors to always advise others where you are going and when you should be back; to bring extra supplies including warm clothes, food, water first aid kit and flashlight, even if you don't plan on staying long; to bring a friend whenever possible; check the weather forecast before leaving; and know your route and bring an updated map and bring a satellite phone or GPS locator for emergencies.
