From across the nation a local nine-year-old's anti-cyber-bullying message was chosen as one of three finalists in the Telus Wise comic contest.

Mairin Callaghan, Grade 4 student at Spruceland traditional elementary, focused her comic on publicly posting photographs. Her comic is entitled The Posted Picture!

Jenny Lee, Grade 4 teacher at Spruceland, asked all her students to enter the contest. When it was announced that Mairin was a finalist her comic's images were created by a graphic artist and the text accompanying the images is all hers.

For her efforts Mairin wins $500 for herself and depending on what place her comic takes once the public voting portion of the contest is over on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. her school gets $3,000 if she takes first place, $2,000 for second place, or $1,000 for third place with funds designated for digital literacy with the focus of online safety.

To support Mairin's comic visit https://wise.telus.com/footprint/comic-contest/ and all it takes is one click on 'Vote for #3' under the third comic entitled The Posted Picture. People can vote as many times as they wish.
